DotPe is Hiring a Frontend Engineer in Gurugram — But Read This First
By Ravinder Singh | August 24, 2025
I want to be upfront about something before you read further.
This role requires 2–5 years of experience. It is not a fresher role. I'm covering it because many of my readers are in the 1–2 year experience range and might be targeting their first switch — and DotPe is genuinely a good company to aim for. But if you just graduated with zero experience, this specific opening is probably not for you right now.
Bookmark it. Come back in a year or two.
If you do have 1–3 years of React.js experience, keep reading.
The Basics
- Company: DotPe
- Role: Frontend Engineer (SDE-1/SDE-2)
- Experience: 2–5 years
- Location: Gurugram, India (On-site)
- Must Have: React.js, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
- Education: B.Tech mandatory
- Apply: Google Form
What is DotPe?
DotPe is a Gurugram-based startup that helps offline businesses go digital — restaurants, shops, retailers. Think of it as the technology layer behind QR-based menus, digital payments, and loyalty programs for local merchants.
They're not as famous as PhonePe or Razorpay, but they're solving a real problem at scale. Millions of small businesses across India use some version of what DotPe has built. For a frontend engineer, that means your UI work reaches real users constantly — not just in a test environment.
What the Role Actually Involves
You'll be building and maintaining frontend components in React.js. The emphasis is on reusable UI libraries — meaning they want someone who can think beyond just building screens, and actually architect components that other developers on the team can use.
That's a bit more senior than pure feature development. If you've only been writing one-off pages, this might stretch you. But if you enjoy thinking about component design and scalability, this is your kind of role.
Next.js experience is a bonus — not mandatory, but it'll definitely help your application stand out.
The Honest Salary Question
They haven't disclosed the salary. For SDE-1/SDE-2 roles at a Gurugram startup with 2–5 years experience, you're probably looking at ₹12–22 LPA depending on your current package and how the negotiation goes. Go in with a number in mind. Don't leave it to them.
How to Prepare for the Interview
From what I know about frontend hiring at Indian startups at this level:
Round 1 is usually a coding challenge — JavaScript fundamentals, maybe a React component exercise. Focus on: closures, event loop, promises, and building a small interactive component from scratch.
Round 2 is typically a technical discussion — they'll ask you to explain your current projects, talk about architecture decisions, and maybe do a live coding exercise.
Round 3 is a culture/team fit conversation.
Make sure you can explain the projects on your resume in depth. "I built a dashboard" isn't enough — tell them the scale, the challenges, and what you'd do differently now.
