Role: Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer at Yupp, you will design, build, and optimize scalable backend systems and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and database specialists to deliver high-performance web applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain server-side logic with high performance and responsiveness.
  • Integrate user-facing elements with backend services and APIs.
  • Implement data storage solutions and manage databases.
  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure on GCP.
  • Optimize for speed, reliability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and deliver new features.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and improve production systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of professional backend development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Go for server-side development.
  • Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • Hands-on with cloud services and infrastructure (preferably GCP).
  • Comfort with Git and modern development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization.

Work Model

We are mostly in-person in Silicon Valley and flexible. Many engineers work from home about one day per week and manage their own hours based on team needs.
