RiNVENT (RiCoE) is Hiring Fresher Assistant, Systems & Software, Hyderabad
By Ravinder Singh | The Interns
Most fresher software listings ask you to build another web app. This one is different. RiNVENT Centre of Excellence (RiCoE) is hiring freshers to work on software and networking products for India's power-distribution sector, which means your code ends up running substations and control centres, not a shopping cart. If you want a first job that's unusual, technical and hands-on, read on.

What RiCoE Actually Does
RiCoE is the R&D and adaptation-engineering arm of the RiNVENT group, a Hyderabad-based, MSME-registered, DPIIT-eligible startup. Its sister company, RiNVENT Industries Pvt Ltd (established 2015), handles manufacturing. Together they build indigenous products for power-distribution utilities, known in India as DISCOMs.
The product range includes SCADA/DMS and LDMS software, industrial cellular routers, MPLS-VPN edge routers, data concentrator units (DCU), digital transformer monitoring units and communication gateways. RiCoE organises its research around three pillars: Trust, Identity & Security; Next-Gen Grid Intelligence; and Learning Science & Accelerated Pedagogy.
In plain terms, this is a company building the software and communication layer that helps electricity utilities monitor and control their networks. It's niche, and that's the appeal.
What You'll Actually Do
You'd support the engineering team in developing, testing, configuring and commissioning software and embedded/networking products for substation automation and control-centre projects. The listed responsibilities are unusually concrete:
- Assist in developing and maintaining Windows desktop and service applications in C#/.NET for SCADA, LDMS and gateway products
- Write and test SQL queries, stored procedures and database scripts for utility data applications
- Support configuration and testing of industrial routers, RTUs/DCUs and communication links (Ethernet, cellular/APN, VPN, MPLS)
- Help with protocol-level testing and integration (IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus, IEC 61850) using simulators and field devices
- Build, package and version software releases, and maintain build and installation documentation
- Prepare test reports, user manuals, technical data sheets and commissioning checklists
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and site commissioning at substations and control centres
- Troubleshoot system, network and application issues and escalate them with clear logs and findings
Note the mix here. It's part software developer, part network engineer, part field engineer. If you like variety and don't want to be boxed into one narrow task, that's a plus.
Who Is Eligible
- Degrees: B.Tech/B.E. in CSE, ECE or EEE; MCA; or B.Sc (Computer Science / MPCS)
- Batch: 2025 / 2026 pass-outs
- Marks: minimum 60% aggregate with no active backlogs
Unlike many listings that lock out BCA, MCA and B.Sc candidates, this one explicitly includes MCA and B.Sc (Computer Science), which makes it a rare opening for non-B.Tech graduates.
Skills You Need
Required:
- Programming fundamentals in at least one of C#, C/C++ or Java
- Basics of SQL and relational databases
- Networking fundamentals: IP addressing, subnetting, routing, TCP/UDP
- Comfort with the Windows and Linux command line
- Clear written and spoken English, and disciplined documentation habits
- Willingness to learn power-system and utility-automation domain knowledge
Good to have:
- Exposure to Windows or Linux environments
- A basic understanding of power systems, substations or SCADA concepts, especially useful for EEE/ECE candidates
- Academic or personal projects in networking, IoT, embedded systems or database applications
Don't panic about the power-systems part. The company says outright that you'll be trained in the domain. What they want from day one is solid fundamentals: one programming language, SQL and networking basics. If subnetting still confuses you, spend a week on it before applying.
What You Get
- Hands-on work on real DISCOM projects: substation automation, control centres and smart-grid products
- Structured mentoring and domain training in power-system automation and industrial communication, from engineers with over two decades of SCADA and grid-automation delivery experience
- Exposure to the complete product lifecycle: design, development, testing, certification, tender documentation and field commissioning
- Growth into Software Engineer, Systems Engineer or Commissioning Engineer roles based on performance
Selection Process
- Online application and shortlisting
- Branch-specific written screening test (CSE / ECE / EEE / MCA / B.Sc CS)
- Technical interview
- HR discussion
The written test is branch-specific, so revise your own core subjects: data structures and networking for CSE, communication and embedded basics for ECE, power systems fundamentals for EEE. Then prepare to explain your projects in the technical interview without hiding behind buzzwords.
Honest Take
This isn't the role for someone chasing a big-tech logo or a product-startup vibe. It's for someone who wants to learn something specialised. Utility automation is a domain where experienced engineers are hard to find, and a fresher who learns SCADA, protocol testing and commissioning early can build a genuinely defensible skill set.
There are trade-offs worth knowing about before you apply:
- The pay isn't disclosed. The listing says stipend/CTC is "as per company norms." Ask for the exact number early in the process, before you invest time in the written test and interviews.
- Field travel is part of the job. Commissioning and FAT work can take you to substations across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. If you want a strictly desk-based routine, this may not suit you.
- The tech stack is Microsoft-heavy. C#/.NET on Windows is a solid, in-demand skill, but it's a different path from the JavaScript and cloud roles that dominate most fresher lists.
- It's a small company. That usually means more responsibility and closer mentoring, but also fewer formal processes than a large firm. Check the company's website and LinkedIn presence, and ask about team size in your interview.
If you're a CSE, ECE, EEE, MCA or B.Sc CS graduate with decent networking and programming basics, and you're curious about industrial systems, this is worth an application. If you only want a conventional web development job, skip it and save your effort for better-fitting roles.
